For the entire month of November, my sister https://www.emmacavill.com/ and I ran a farm related challenge over on our Instagram pages. The aim of the challenge was to keep up a daily sketching habit, which is all too easy to drop when life gets busy. It was off the back of #boatober (an October boat sketching challenge on insta) so we have actually done 61 days straight. Every day we would take it in turns to post a photo of one of our farms, we called it #farmvember2023 – The four main categories were:

1. Animals
2. Views
3. Machinery
4. Barns/buildingsHere is a small selection of my sketches from the 30 day challenge

It was really popular with other people joining in from all over the world and I think that although there are loads of sketch challenges out there, there arent that many that use personal photos and share snippets of the creator’s life and people found that genuine and endearing.

Both Emma & I are missing the challenge and already thinking of ways we can carry it on in another form that doesn’t take up every day. Watch this space.
